Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I was wondering how to fit a polysurface in between two surfaces scaling it to fit on two separate surfaces and cling to the surfaces proportionately. I'm new to this and it would help greatly if some one could help me out. I tried to make a definition but it always scales improperly, I divided the surfaces and put a bounding box around my object. It seems simple enough to do, any help would be greatly honored.

The file has the object that needs to be placed between the surfaces clinging and deforming according to the surface, it needs to be placed evenly apart on those surfaces

Thanks.

Here is an example of blend box. Note that your surface in rhino are trimmed which never works good so i re created them in gh in the part that says "remake surfaces not trimmed" you can also do it in rhino just using 4 point surface.

Nice to know about blend box.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking to do exactly....you want your base geometry to span along the length of your two guide surfaces?  If so, box morph is the easiest way to achieve this.  This works with your file as it is right now because your two guide surfaces are ruled, so it's possible to extract the four corner points from each and use all of them together to make the twisted box you need to map your base geometry to.

In terms of how you lay out your file, it would be easier to define the corners of your ruled surfaces so that they better match the input layout for the twisted box component...

I need this object to be repeated 12 times between the surfaces, while conforming to the surfaces. Also, why are your icons on the components different? I have the names of the component instead.

1. change the number sliders in the blend box section to change the number of components. I have it set to one.

2. display>draw icons. this mode is used more on the forum.

I tried both definitions. Neither gave me the correct result, you can see that I did it manually, but the orientation of the others are difficult manually. It will also teach me about grasshopper. It seems like its not reading the orientation correctly, how would I fix this?

its because your surfaces have dif directions. make them the same way.

I'm not sure why it doesn't look like the one next to it still, that I did myself. I have the surface directions the right way. Do I need to change UVs? Thanks for the help so far this site is extremely helpful.

better help if you post the 3d file of the surfaces you are using.

Hope it helps you help me.

The brep just needs to be placed at those points, but at the same time being applied to the surface, without loosing the original thickness. The BREP is also folding in the center, unlike your screenshots. Is there some way that I modelled this wrong? If so, let me know.

I posted my file, could you please me out. The rib needs to remain the original thickness, while adhering to both of the surfaces. You can see how I did it by hand on the side in screenshot. Thanks
