Problem lofting an intersecting curve

Hey guys!

In my head I thought this would be really easy, but for some reason my two curves won't loft. One curve is just a circle and the other is an intersection between a circular tube and a curved surface.

Or is there an other smart way to set a cone on a curved surface? I don't want to first bake a cone and then trim because I need the bottom of the cone to be circular in plan (even though it's not flat in elevation).

add a graft tree component to your scale, that will make both branches the same (0,0)
