algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Like most things in life there is more than one school of thought about the best way to address something or what is more intuitive and not. However I find myself firmly in the drag down to increase the Scroller Digits.

Since its introduction in version 0.8.0005 just over 11 months ago I have tried to convince myself that I will get used to it. But I find myself today still going the wrong way first.

Please can a user preference toggle be added to the settings so that "Up downers" like me can get on with our lives :)

Case in Point (or Point in Case if you would prefer):

This ...........................................Or this

EDIT: There should be a prize for anyone who can guess the two cars used in the example

Mazda 3 for first one but cant find other one with google images =)

Well done the correct answers were a Mazda 3 and a Porsche 968.

As I said there should be a prize.... but there isn't :))

DAMN, I was thinking 928, but they did not have tiptronic... a salvaged 928 was my first...cost $500, and another $500 for parts to fix it.  Wow, didn't think I'd get old enough to be nostalgic about my first car.

I too always go the wrong way.  There is a 50/50 chance of going the right way.  My experience defies the odds.  I go the wrong way first at least 80% of the time.  Similar to plugging a USB drive; wrong 80% of the time.  How is this possible?

The anthropic explanation would be that there's a non-zero chance that the universe is destroyed when you manage to do it the right way at the first go. Since you're clearly still alive, you must be in one of those universes where you actually guessed wrong more often than not.

The psychological explanation would be that you simply don't remember when you get it right the first time because there's nothing interesting to remember.

The paranoid explanation would be that I added some markov-chain logic to the control so that it can predict with a better than 50% success-rate which way you think the scroller is about to work and then I switch it around just in time.

I KNEW it was you.

You do realise that damn digit scroller was the hardest thing I ever wrote right?

Which is why I have persevered to try and live with it. You know me, if I have a "suggestion" about a shiny new thing, it airs in the first few minutes. :)

11 months and 3 days give or take is a new all time record.

Fair enough. I fear even looking at that code now...

I thought I would get used to the scroller as well, but somehow I can't seem to. I guess I am a life long up-downer! :) I still prefer the previous implementation of the slider UI to the scroller. (Sorry, David!)

I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'm posting two other wishes for sliders, here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/wish-auto-adjust-of-slide...
