Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I was playing around with the geodesic curve component with a surface where the edge of the surface curves inwards (see attached screenshot), when I encountered something I did not expect ...

Curve 1 - shows what was expected; the curve follows the "shortest path", then hits the surface edge, follows that, then follows through to the end point. (Curve 1 is created using normal Rhino function "ShortPath")

Curve 2 - shows what the grasshopper component is currently doing ... Don't understand it. If it does not cross an edge, then all is fine, but in this situation it seems to run off in its own direction.

I wonder if this is a bug or if I am doing something odd ?

Any help will be welcome !

Also, I will take this opportunity (not sure if it has already been mentioned) to mention that under "Logic > Tree", not all the components appear by default in the components list. I need to pop out the drop down list to see all the available components.

Many thanks and kindest regards !

This is a known issue with the Geodesic function within the SDK. For some reason, a point or points on the edge of the surface are known to cause things to go crazy. This happens in Rhino quite often as well. I'm not sure if this is going to get cleaned up for v5 or not.
