algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Daniel,
I have been playing with SPM for a couple of days. It's an awesome plug-in. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering how you would go about doing something like this:
Hyphae - growth process diagram in 2D from Nervous System on Vimeo.
I have tried doing something similar creating a main Vector Addition and several Gravity Sources. But the forces add up exponentially and the points travelling through the vector field kind of go wild hehehe. It would be easier if the forces would add up linearly (Do you know what I mean?). Is that possible?
Plus, would it be possible to duplicate the points travelling through the vector field regularly, and start branching out like it is shown in the video?
Thanks.
Julio.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if some of you guys has been playing with SPM and could give me a hand with this definition.
Or should I be using another plug-in or technique?
Thanks!
Hi Julio,
Unfortunately, I don't think our component set can do exactly what you want. In particular, you have to predetermine the number of particles in the scene...so splitting particles doesn't really work. However, there are a couple tricks you can do. I've attached a definition that tries to at least to solve the first of your problems (calming doing the gravity forces)...It's probably not exactly what you're looking for, though.
You will need the latest version of the plugin.
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the answer and the definition.
It would be nice if we could split the particles. We would get some kind of fractal behavior.
In your definition (and on the ones I have been playing with), the particles, when they get to close to the gravity points, they accelerate very much and travel very far. This is something I wanted to avoid. I want the particles to travel in a constant speed. Would that be possible?
Thanks again Daniel.
