Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi all ..

i am design small building using grasshopper , which similar to these pic's i attached .

i am not have a good experience yet with grasshopper , i will be happy if you advice me  .

-- the idea is great the building with triangles

i have to greate :

1- triangle gride wich will be structure. ( the triangles have same size)

2-extrude triangles (with 3 different extruded ).

(will be clear if download the pic)

so i started definitions with triGride ,, how i an set on my surface?

-how i extruded with 3 diferent hight ?

or eny way 2 do it. :(

thanks for your help.

Sorry to here you can't open the file what version of rhino and GH are you you using, can you post up a screen capture of the error message when you try and open it in GH.

The file maps the tri-grid to the surface and extrudes these triangles to 3 different heights.

P.s @Anders.. Really like the Project and the workflow used.

Thanks a bunch..

Hello,

We actually used dynamics for this project (using Nucleus/Maya, but I do not see any reason why Kangaroo shouldn't do the job either). Here's a small video showing the process:

http://vimeo.com/12209772

And a paper which features the project and some more in-depth explanations:

http://cita.karch.dk/globalsite.aspx?Preview=True&ObjectId=8099...

Hope that helps shed some light on it :)

on the cita site, is there also some form-finding tuts for maya?
thanks!

Afraid not. But I would encourage you to check out the references in the paper I linked to. In particular this one: http://www.autodeskresearch.com/pdf/CF09-Physics-based%20Generative...  (Which I believe Daniel Piker (Kangaroo), might also have mentioned on the Grasshopper forums somewhere).

Hi Anders!

Here's some more documentation for those interested in seeing how GH was was part of the process...

nice work David, congratulations!

Hi David!! I guess I missed your reply back in December. Hope you are well. You still over in Copenhagen?

thanks all ... seem to me that difcult to be all triangls same size ,, i will try to be simllar

Matt Gaydon

thanks ,,, i was download the print screen here ..

i use rhino 4.9

gr 1.0.0.0 version

i hope u know how can i open these file :(

thanks 4 the attachment i think this will work with me but the scale is different so at the end not same size >> then i have to extrude it as Jissi Choi did .

Jissi Choi

can i extrude each group of triangles(which i choose )  with spsifc hight ?

so at the end i will have 3 different hight?

thaaaanks all 4 ur help i will download it all and i'll be back ..

Hi! No equilateral and no 3 diferent highs :(  just another aproach with your surface, the module has 0.74-0.80 all of them. i will try to introduce only 3 highs, now thre are random values, and i think will be better if the extruded high (move) were based in a diferent angles not in the normal to every surface . ;)

thankssssss

.74-.80  may is ok not big differents .. but i have to control each group of triangles :)

sorry the version is

 rhino 4.9

gr 0.8.0004  version

thanks :)

Thanks for the screen captures. The reason your unable to open anyone's files is your running a much older version of GH 0.8.004 to be exact.

As your running Rhino V4 SR9 you should download and install the latest Grasshopper(0.8.0063) from the link below with no problems. That should let you open all the files we have posted for you.
