Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey there,

Im trying to create a surface from the end points of a series of vertical lines i have created.

The script imports a microsoft excel file which has XY coordinates and the population densities that correspond to those locations.

The point XYZ component determines the position, whilst the height of the line is determined by the population.

I then extract the end point of each line but i cant get the surface from points component or the mesh from points component to work.

Ive grouped the part of the grasshopper script that im trying to work on.

3D%20forest%20map.gh

Thanks for any help.

can you post the csv files as well, or alternatively something with the same structure

I think this should work

You haven't got a "regular" grid of points so I would suggest the Delauney Mesh component

Hi Antony,

I'd also suggest eitherDelauney in Grasshopper, as Danny suggests, or MeshFromPoints in Rhino.

Hey, thanks for the quick replies

The delauney mesh worked, however i was wondering if there was a way to smooth the mesh beyond what weaverbird is capable of.

At the moment the mesh looks very jagged because there are some very long lines directly next to some very short ones. Is there a way to reduce the amount the mesh drops by so i can get a smoother geometry out?
