Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I know I have brought this up before but I just wanted to have another look over it. I have started from scratch to create another basic truss module with pin jointed supports and planar supports to resist out of plane translation.

I am still getting this report back as singular stiffness matrix issue. Can you have a look over and see where the mistakes are? This is my third run at this and I am starting to confuse myself.

I am using Jon's StructDraw module to make the truss geometry.

Hi Joshua,

nodes that connect to truss elements only do not possess rotational degrees of freedom. Therefore rotational supports take no effect. In case your truss lies say in the x-z-plane, fix all nodes in y-direction. In addition to this support two nodes in such a way that your structure can not move in the x-z-plane.

Best,

Clemens

AHA!

I tried a series of different restraint connections to get this to work including the one you had in your file. However what I hadn't done is flatten all my data entering into the model assembly.

Thanks Clemens, much appreciated. Any word on an update?

Josh

karamba 0.9.082 will come out next week. Version 0.9.081 had some minor bugs that needed to be removed. There will also be an updated version of the manual and the examples.

Fantastic. Thanks for the good work.
