attraction repulsion

What would be the approach to make attractors act in this way? http://vimeo.com/19355232 how it seems the lines cannot overlap instead they deflect at the boundaries of the attractors field of range. Thanks

I would say SPM vector components or uto FlowL, but I didnt play much with them yet.
