algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi,
now i have a plane, and a curve, i want to find the nearest point on the curve to the plane, how can i do it?
i think i can first project the curve on the plane, and then find the nearest path line between the original curve and the projected curve, but how to find this line?

Hey,
I would it do like this

DeDackel
Curve>Analysis>Extremes
Takes a curve and a plane as input
The L output is the closest point on the curve to the plane
oh, yes! I ignored this nice component :-)
Thank you for reminding, Daniel!

Hey Daniel,
Do you know who is more precisely? I baked the curve and the plane in my example (see the file I posted). If I use the CrvDeviation command in Rhino the result is not the same as the baked result from the Extremes component. they differ : 3.15992e-07 meters
now! I guess it has to do with iterationsteps. But which one is the better result?
Best Regards

thank you . Piker.
