Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

As you can see from the photo, the preview modes, are all the way to the right of my screen, how can I move them back to the left, where they were before?

You cannot. Only I have the power to move these pixels on your screen. However until my demands are met your toolbar shall remain in a state of perpetual and painful bisection. My demands are as follows:

  1. I want unequivocal and everlasting dominion over Earth's Moon.
  2. The Obama-administration must publicly distance itself from the Texas Board of Education.
  3. Ben & Jerries must name an ice-cream flavour after Gorbachev.
  4. Architects will no longer be allowed to use the word "dynamic" to describe non-moving structures.
  5. All history books will be rewritten to state that the Battle of Hastings took place on October 15.
  6. All marketing consultants will be forced to retire two weeks after graduation.
  7. The manufacture, sale, purchase or consumption of any blue candy will be illegal.

You could run the VB script in the attached file, but you'll need to run it every time you start Grasshopper.

You are asking too much for such a little thing to do! :-)

I may get 100 more GH users and make a public demonstration in Miami Beach, all NAKED!

"...and make a public demonstration in Miami Beach, all NAKED!"

I'll settle for that. I put those icons on the right side for a reason though. Either it was a stupid idea or opinions are divided on the matter. However, the toolbar layout has been getting some more flak and I'm thinking about how to improve it for everyone (or failing that, at least a significant majority)

How many Gh users does it take to change a light bulb?

None, because they all fear change.

I replaced "Manx men" with "GH users" to illustrate a point. We must embrace the changes or at least run with them for a bit to see where it takes us.

So are you a Comeover or a Manxie?

I'm a stayover!
There you go! will do.... :-)

I got use the Mac interface, where you can drag and drop icons wherever you want. I was thinking that the  area inside those parenthesis was for that!

Buttons in Grasshopper are not like buttons in Rhino. They do not just run commands (though, to be honest, a lot of them do simply refer back to menu items).

It is possible to make the toolbar customizable, but before I spend any time on that, I want to make sure that the toolbar UI is worth it. At the moment, I feel that it's not flexible enough to truly cater to all wishes.

The toolbar is only one of 3 standard windows elements left in the main window (the others being the menu and the statusbar), I have a dark-brown feeling* I'll be writing my own toolbar UI pretty soon.
