algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Great Idea to add the data viewer component, I will no longer have to keep moving a panel and param viewer floating along with me. However, I am having some inconsistent success using the data viewer. When I highlight a Panel or a Slider the panel viewer seems to work perfectly, however, when I highlight an operative component input or output I get spotty success. Sometimes it updates with the new selection, but more often than not it does not update. The only thing I can figure is that I am not holding my mouth just right. Has anyone else figured out how to make this tool work consistently with operative components? Or is it me?
This feature will be a real time saver. Thanks for including it, terrific idea!!!
Thanks,
Stan

Hi Stan,
the problem is two-fold as far as I can work out, firstly the grips interfere with object picks. So when you click near a parameter grip, the click goes by unnoticed. There also seems to be a problem with clicking on an already selected object.
But I'm not too concerned about this because I don't really like the immediate click->update behaviour. I'm going to try a different way of linking the Data Viewer to objects for the next release. If it doesn't work out, I can always try to improve the picking.

David,
While you are working on on the data viewer, just a thought...It seems it would be useful if you could bring up two data viewers side by side so you could compare two lists together or even 3 or 4 lists simultaneously. One other related wish would be if you could select an individual line item in the data viewer and have it highlight in rhino... wow, that would be powerful!!! I also wish for a Ferrari in case you are performing miracles today.
Thanks,
Stan
See, that's exactly why I didn't like the old pick->select logic. It makes it impossible to look at multiple parameters simultaneously.
