uneven pt grid to subsurface

hi all,

i am trying to generate a subsurface from and uneven/deformed grid of points, similar to this:

i am able to generate the grid and populate the surface with it. how is it possible, to use the points to generate subsurfaces/4pt corner surfaces? i would really like to see the vb-component dirk is showing in the discussion.
