algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Geometry generated by a limited number of components

Does anyone know how I might ask a set of components to generate an enclosed form [based on a input surface] rather than simply sporphing a component over it?

If anyone has any ideas or knows any precedents [both grashopper scripts or architectural projects] they would be very welcome.\

This is the architectural intention I would like to achieve. A landscape whihc contains space underneath. [at the moment the components are limitless] Can I use the same input surface and somehow limit the variations of component used? Any ideas?
