Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

Ive got a question about modeling with vectors.

In the attachment i submitted my idea. In this case I have the legs and the red dot, but in the next step I want to generate a circle from this red point and I want to change the radius of the circle with a slider. Can i do this with vectors? How can I do this?

thank you.

What vector do you want to use to affect the circle?

Here's an example where the top circles (from your red point) are drawn tangent to the upper legs.

Hello Lars,

thank you for your reply!

This will be a pavilion with the intention to change the height with the legs [door principle]. I already have a grasshopper script, where I can simulate/animate the legs, but I dont know how to generate a circle from the red point (i only have the coordinates of that point [script]). The red point is located on the circle!

So I thaught, can I use a vector to find to generate the centerpoint of radius with the red point as second point (on circle).

Tell me if I've got this straight. The red point is not the centerpoint of the circle you want to draw, but it lies on the circle. And now you want a vector starting from the red point and ending where the new circle should have it's centerpoint?

If that's correct, you could use the component Vector Length on that vector and use that as input for the radius of the circle.

Lars,

yes thats correct! I forgot to set a new Cplane! after set the new Cplane than I can use the vector length to generate the new centerpoint of the circle.

thank you.
