algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi :)

Well today again some Offset stories :D

This time it's an offset on a surface. I can make it work on a sphere  without problem, but not on the polysurface (all the surfaces are joined into one polysurf) below. As you can see there is an error message in the GH window.

What it needs is accurate offset, making a section of the polysurface with a translated in general coordinates plan won't work.

here the screen :

hi Choc, did you try the other surface offset component, not the Offset Loose? And exploded your geometry first?

Hi Pieter,

This is actually the only "offset on surface" tool. Didn't use something called "Offset loose" :o.

I exploded the surface to try. but I don't really see the use of it. All I want is those curves to be offset on the surface. Like I do it on spheres for example etc.

I think I'm gonna try some other way, considering it like a frame and working with an explosed surface as you said.

Ah, I thought you meant to offset the surface. Upload your files and I bet you'll get help:)

Oh well if anyone feels nosy yeah why not :D ? Adding them right now

By the way I noticed my cuts aren't even, when the bounding box's first edge ends, and then I use the perpendicular one, the space between cuts change...gotta find a better way.

I think I'll do it with evenly spaced plans along general axes...
