how to swap branches and items

I have a tree with 57 branches and 67 items per branch.  How would on juxtapose the items and their locations in the tree structure such that item 5 in branch 10 becomes item 10 in branch 5.  Or in other words all the number 1 items in all branches are moved to branch 1, number 2 items moved to branch 2...
