algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi, Daniel
I took a AA Biostructure workshop last summer and have a question.
I want to be experimental about repelling force between two points but I do not know how should I set up in kangeroo.
Attached is the image of molecule and it says that by repelling forces between points, it can create some kind of unexpected spatial linear surface.
Can you help me to set the kangeroo? Or can you give me some ideas that how can I set repelling force?
Thank you

Hi Seung,
molecules like this (proteins or polypeptides, as they are collectively known) have attractive forces between different portions. These are known as Hydrogen Bonds and Salt Bridges, they are basically Ions in two remote parts of the chain that cause those parts to move closer together. It's a much weaker bond than the regular atomic bonds as you'll find along the chain.
Proteins are said to have 4 kinds of structure (primary, secondary, tertiary and quarternary, so that's easy to remember at least) and I think you're looking at the tertiary structure here, which is a result of the weak bonds and the cause of the intricate folding.
It's not a "spatial linear surface", I actually can't imagine what a spatial linear surface is supposed to look like. I was under the impression only curves could be linear.
I'm merely bringing this up because it probably helps to use the right terminology when discussing things like this.

Thank you for your comment, David
I appreciate your help. What I mean by Spatial linear surface was that curves that are created by attractor forces can be spatial as you see in the right image. I am not sure how to set attractor points between points in Kangeroo, but want to expect to see some sort of 3d mential linear surface or curve that are made by attraction force.
If you or someone knows how to do that, it wourl be fantastic..
Thank you
Seung
