algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I would need some help here: How do I create lines between the points I have marked in the picture? I'm trying to split the points in different lists but I can't figure out how to do it. The size of the grid will vary and needs to be hooked up to a slider.

Hi,

I would suggest to use series and xyz-point to create the grid! Take a look at Mohamad Khabazi's AlgorithmicModelling (page 32). It could help you!

You can download it from http://download.mcneel.com/s3/mcneel/grasshopper/1.0/docs/en/Algori...

Hi Ali,
thanks for posting the tutorial, There a some rendering in the tutorials, All have same quality of rendering, not only in this tutorial but i have seen a lot of renderings with same quality in other resources also, Do u know in which engine/software were those rendered,..??
Dear Krish,

I'm not sure what renderings you are referring to!
If it's the green lines you mean, I assume people just grab the screen and do it in Photoshop or other image-editing programs!

I'm sorry I can't help you more...

Krish: I'm pretty sure it's V-ray renderings, but I could be wrong.
Thanks for the tip Ali, I will look into this tonight!
Sorry, I'm not getting it to work. Khabazi seems to skip some steps in his explanation in "Algorithmic Modelling" (page 32), so I'm not able to follow him.

I'm generating the first row of points with a SERIES and a POINT XYZ, but I'm not following him on how to use the SHIFT LIST in order to get several rows of points.

Would greatly appreciate any help I could get.
I agree, it's kind of fuzzy...

I think, what you need is to option-click your xyz-point and choose all possible connections (cross reference) to get the full grid!

also... put together - fig. 3.20 and fig. 3.22 - to see all connections.
Here is a rebuild of that def.

Great! Will look into this soon and try what you suggested. Thank you!
Yes, it worked! I still have one last problem to solve though, and I'm hoping that someone could help me on this one:

I've set up the grid of points, shifted and culled the lists in order to get four different lists of points that I could use to build squares (or triangles, or diagonals) with polylines within the grid.

Right now I would like to build squares. One for each "cell" of the grid. This works fine when I only have one "cell" in the grid, but once I increase the grid size, the polyline gets all messed up. I want each cell to be outlined with a polyline. Maybe this be an easy problem to solve, but I can't figure out how. I would greatly appreciate if someone could take a minute and look at my definition.

...well, quads and triangles are pretty different approaches when it comes to describing a surface. I'm not sure what you would like to do with the quad as the quads will never be planar when you have a double curved surface. The quads will end up being triangulated if you would like them to be planar...

But take a look at this def. and see if it helps!
Just create tow curves and take them in as input for the loft component...
