Projection problem ? subdivide a lofted surface (curved) for lasecut

hi all

first and always a thank for this amazing forum.

I have a lofted surface from a curve rotated in a circular way.

Then I divided the lofted surface. Only in along the surface in v-direction.

Now I am preparing the file for lasercut so:

I projected my Subdivided surface in xy-plan. but I haven't a way to proof if this

projection is wright ?

any way to proof the projection ?

I followed this steps,

_ area (center point for the subdivided surface)

_ Srf. Closest pt.

_ Eval. Srf.

_ Orient (from the Eval. Srf. normal to xy plan)

Once my surface is projected I haven't an exact result.

Is their another way ?

Or it's just not the way but the idea which is wrong ?

Hi.

Looks like your sub_surfaces are "Doubly curved surface" which can not be unfolded.

If you don't mind to replace your sub_surfaces to a series of "Ruled Surfaces" generated from several pair of isocurves, then you can develope them using "Unfold" or "Unroll".

Because they are all single curved surfaces. Regarding "Developable_surface" please refer to "here".

Attached is a demo for you using "Unfold" component from "TTToolbox" plug-in.

If you really want to develop a doubly curved surface, you can use rhino's "squish" command, but you'll not be able to avoid distortion.

I Think it should work.
