Polyline Collapse Component - How does it work?

Hi,

I don't understand, how this Component works. Could anybody give me an example please?

If you have a polyline with small segments you can use the Collapse Component generate a polyline that averages them two control points either side.

Example below shows the original curve in red has a segment that is 0.95 in length and thus below the tolerance so a the rebuilt curve is shown in green.

This is not the same as the simplify component which will remove a control point if it lies in a straight line between its neighbours.

Thank you Danny!

Also note that this is an iterative process. the shortest segment is collapsed first, then all segments are re-measured and the new shortest segment is collapsed until the shortest segment is longer than the collapse threshold. If you have a number of consecutive short segments the outcome might therefore be not what you expect.
