Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi I m actually learning grasshopper

I did this tutorial "PARAMETRIC TOWER" (link below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuhZ4AMdJCs

At the 18.25min he makes a surface difference to trim the pattern of the facade

The part of the pattern elements which are cut are deleted

I did it many times but when i do it the pattern elements join to the cube.

I don t understand why it doen t work the same

Any body could help me please

I attach my rhino file and the grasshopper one if you want to have a look

tahnk you very much

Boolean operation is going to be tricky sometimes. This could be a workaround.

Thank you very much for your help i did it again many times and it worked every time,  i don t know why but your way to do it is interesting.

I was wondering : when we do the solid difference, grasshopper cuts the elements inside the box and maintain them (the right elements on the shotscreen )but delete the cutting element outside the box(the left elements on the shotscreen ).

(please find attached the image of the model)

do you have any idea can i obtain the elements outside the box?

Rhino is a surface modeler and it isn't strange that small pieces that do not cross the box still remain inside.

Try "Shape In Brep" and then simply select and delete them all.
