Fixes:
This release is a bit pre-mature, but since it contains several important fixes I didn't want to delay any longer.
If you have existing files that contain sliders with expressions, they will most likely generate errors now (unless you named the slider "x"). It should still work, but please update the expressions and replace the slider name with the variable "x" everywhere.

Hi F.,
it was an unnecessary limitation and annoyance in my opinion. Nothing should have been broken with this release, if the Slider expression cannot be solved for "x" then I'll still try and solve it for the slider name.
I can probably automate the expression variable name replacement, although I cannot guarantee a 100% correct conversion. If I ever decide to remove legacy expression support for slider names I'll be sure to add something like this.
Regarding persistent variables, I know it would be a very useful feature to have, it would allow for all kinds of new stuff with expressions that isn't possible now, but I still haven't been able to come up with a good dependency algorithm for this. As you know, you cannot have cyclical wires in Grasshopper, and with these persistent variables it would be very easy to create a cyclical dependency and very difficult to find the mistake. I very much hope I'll be able to add this feature someday though.

Wow, maybe it's somehow just me... David couldn't do it either.
Win 7 Enterprise 64 Bit if that makes a lick of difference...
I'll be quiet now.
What about the red checkmark?
What if you press Enter?

I am noticing some other issues with the slider but maybe I just don't understand the logic. In the first screenshot to notice the scrolling stepper 2.300 does not match the slider value 2.391.
On the second notice that after opening the slider controls with "edit" that the values under "Numeric value" have lost the last two digits going from 2.674 to 2.600.
I have win 7 home premium. I did manage to crash it once but am not sure what I was doing right when it failed but I was in the slider control dialog dragging something.
Hope that helps.
Hi,
after trying this out, i recognized that it is only possible to drag the first digits after the comma, all others are not active and that's why it is not showing up the right values.
I think david knows why this is happening.
cheers,
No I don't. What?
I can't repeat any of these two problems. What's the step-by-step?

open the slider with double click on the name frame,
try to change the second or third digit after the comma -> not possible
slide the value to a double value as 4,426 the values which is displayed above in the numeric values display is 4,400 instead of 4,426 (rounding?)
I still don't have this behaviour with the new slider. For the record I'm using Windows Vista 64 professional, Rhino v4 SR8, GH 0.8.007, with English (United Kingdom) formats.
