Hi there.

For creating a material thickness i suggest to bake your loft-surfaces. Cap the holes and apply a "shell" command on it to create an offset off the loft surfaces.

But...I have to say that your loft surfaces are pretty twisted and self intersecting. Thats never any good if you wanna use these surface for further development. No programm can deal with messy surfaces. Try to create a clean base first ;)
