Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi

I m trying to calculate weight and CG of vessel.

Attached drawing contain different layers, named as per plate thickness.

whole drawing is in surfaces and programmatically thickness are applied as per layer.

I am getting trouble for 8 mm thick plate.

As per rhino Cumulative Area = 44257812.5 (+/- 0.2) square millimeters

where as GH gives different values.

Can anybody explain?

All the surfaces fail to load for some reason. Were they supposed to be linked to objects in the 3dm file?

Well , currently i have issue with 8mm only, you need to assign 8mm layer (orange color surface) to GH surface .
That is giving some higher values of area.

Or you can make your own code to check area through GH of 8 mm surface.

I picked a surface at random from the 8THK layer, but I got the same values from Rhino and GH. Perhaps you can narrow it down to a single surface that yields different results for you when using the _Area command vs. the Area component?

please see this difference in values

I can see the difference in your image, however the file you uploaded only has 97 (poly)surfaces on that layer, not 106, so my test is different from yours:

It could well be that this is a bug in an old version that has been fixed by now. I'd ask you to test this on the Rhino6 beta (which I am using to test this), but it looks like you're using a cracked version of Rhino so you probably don't have access to that.

Thanks ..noted.
