algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Remembering the discussion about the possibilities for the QWhale replacement, this looks like a really well made code.. True it would require the editor window to be a browser control (I guess), but still it's millenia ahead of the QWhale.

Yeah we're aware of it, it's a pretty young project though so it may not make the cut for when we really have to pick one to work with. I'm not exactly sure when that point is, I actually thought we were going to try and ship one with Rhino6, but it seems not.

Since I'm not doing any work but I can throw feature requests around, I strongly would recommend allowing for external editors too (with a "refresh on save", or something)!

You can build something out of the FileWatcher code in the attachment coupled with that.

It's not exactly what you're after, but this video demonstrates a similar workflow.

Regarding the traditional GH mechanics, I cannot find a nice way to dynamically change the parameters of the scripting component while you're editing the code...

Yup, that's a good idea. Plenty of common IDEs have some sort of api that can be used for instant updates. The big question is how to get autocomplete information from GH into that external IDE.
