Kinetic Module ( Flexible on curve surface)

Im current doing a project like this one http://www.makeahybrid.org/2010/12/transformer-theatre/.

1. To set a point cloud on the sphere

2. The points define the circle

3. The 3 legs module can sit on the circle

Can someone post the definition on how can i start ?

Thanks for ur suggestion. But my project brief is ONE module can be folded up like the above diagram to fit in circles of different diameters. So the height of module differs when circle varies, but the surface area of the module remain UNCHANGED. Thats y i need a script for the FOLDING/BUMPING up of the module to cope with egg surface

I use grasshopper to get similar module post on the egg shell by using the script below. But the distortion of the module is determined by the bounding box of the curved egg. My problem is the distortion should be rationalized by using ONE module folding/ flipping up so that in manufacturing process i just have to use one mould and by FLEXIBILITY that will change the shape.
