How to read .dem (digital elevation model) file in gh?

Hi

I am making 3d topography models off either an image or contour curves.

However I am wondering just to get a more accurate model if there is a way to import dem (digital elevation model file which is basically a image(tiff) file with elevation data included) file into gh and get it to read.

It looks like there is a dem file reader written in C#. (https://dem.codeplex.com/)

Yet I am curious if I could extract elevation data off the file directly in gh.

dem file: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USGS_DEM

Thank you.

If you can get another type of file (such as an HGT or GeoTIFF file), then you may want to use Elk instead (found here). Elk will read the data from the given file and output a set of points, curves and a surface.
