Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello.

I am trying to get a gradient over several breps in grasshopper.

I tried using a script from  °[u on http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/bake-color-gradient but i... but it's giving me an error.

Does anyone else know how to do this?

many plugins make this sort of thing easier. Here is an example of an approach with Human:

Depending on your intentions, you may also want to set up render materials that follow this gradient (this only sets the display color in Rhino.)

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your response. I want to 3d print the object so I would need the gradient color to be embedded in the geometry. Is that possible?

Hi again.

I downloaded Human and opened your file. I don't see any gradient. Am I missing something?

Thank you,

you have to click the button before the color displays. "Embedded in the geometry" depends on how your 3d printer works - some are based on materials/textures, others are based on mesh vertex colors. Do you know which yours is?

I think is need to me material/textures.

my example should work with some minor tweaks:

Andrew, this worked well! Thank you!

i wasn't seeing the baked objects because the layer they were on was hidden.

Checking to see if I can use vertices colors for the 3d print.

Than you for your help

Stephanie

Here is another way using Elefront and custom preview if you just want to show the Grasshopper geometry with colors and not bake.

If you leave "Bake" toggled on it will even update the baked geometry constantly which is kinda cool if you want to have nice Rhino shading on your geometry.

Get Elefront here: http://www.food4rhino.com/project/elefront?etx
