algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Is it possible to re-mesh or planarize a number of non-planer cells (Hexagons) while corners are constrained to a surface, it's OK to change size, cull or reduce a number of cells, as long as the surface is totally covered and harmonised.
For reference, please see my discussion with Hyungsoo Kim

for a start, I imagine something which can get the curvature of the cell centroid, and where its small, cell get bigger pushing away others(or eat neighbours).
In the other hand, where the curvature is smaller it get dense, add more cells or just pack itself to get as much as possible of reduced sized cells
Hi Tom, Kim Example above shows that it's partially possible
but i didn't get what you mean, do u mean that the movement of corners along the surface more freely can't reach planarity status?
but the main issue here is that the process needs to be constructive(using a recursive tool like Anemone) and it needs to be complete, covering all the surface, even if it forced to remove some of the existing cells. or add some more.
It's important that the re-meshing doesn't distort the overall shape.
Hi Tom, its not easy, but its possible, especially if we can recursively reduce sizes or cull some cells off.
long time ago, i saw a video of a surface (processing i guess) where you can add a new cell, and then other cells just get reproduced and moved away to host the new cell, connecting itself to its corners.
I would be happy to see suggestions to start from :)
