Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am new at Grasshopper. How do you create a shaker door in grasshopper? That is a door that has lines starting in the center vertical than offsetting each side a particular amount. Your parameters would be door height, width, thickness, amount of offset of vertical lines.

thank you

Is there a repeat offset command?

In Grasshopper you dont need to "repeat" commands, everything is calculated all at once. But you can give the offset component a list of offsets and you will get all the offsets.

So you can easily make a series, where you set the "step" as your interval between offsets and how many you want in the "count". That way you get multiple offsets.

Hope that helps!

Nice start HK

I have done a similar script in SketchUp using the Ruby API.
But when you look at all components a Door consists of Architecturally: Its a very ...very long list. Hinges, Latch set, Right, Left, Right reverse, Left reverse Door swing. Vent Grilles, combustible or non-combustible construction, Threshold, Door Name , Door Number, Size, Width, Thickness, UL Fire rating, Metal or Wood frame, Astergal, Weather stripping.

You quickly would come to the conclusion adding all this information into a GH script, One would need a proper HTML Menu Interface within GH. The sliders and stream components are not adequate in my opinion.
