algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Version 1.1.0 (2015-11-22): A new version of GHLauncher is ready for download, Check out this video for details on new features:
This version works on 64-bit version of Rhino 5 SR8 or later.
Download the installation file below.
Version 1.0.1 (2015-10-08): To work with a .gh / .ghx file we always need to open rhinoceros and then run grasshopper command and then open our file.
I think it would be much better if it was possible to run these files directly from explorer. i searched for the solution of this problem, but i couldn't find anything. (but i'm not sure, maybe there is an obvious way to open these file directly.)
So i wrote myself a small visual basic hack to make this procedure as short as possible.
I thought maybe someone else would have the same problem so i decided to share this hack here.
To make it works, you must download the installation file and execute it. after finishing the installation, all .gh / .ghx files should automatically associate with my program (called GHLauncher.exe), every time you double click on a .gh / .ghx file, this program should automatically open rhino, run grasshopper command, and open the file.
I only test this program on my computer (windows 10, Rhinoceros 5 SR12 64-bit, Grasshopper 0.9.0076) and i'm not sure if it would work on other.

Hi, Thank you for your comment.
Great idea, I will try my best to add this feature
Hi,
Is the code open-source?
If it is I could support u, if needed ;)
(VisualStudio C#)
Greets...
Sorry for my late reply,
actually I really like to share GHLauncher source code. But first I want to make it as clean as possible, and maybe add 2 or 3 new feature, and then I will share it on github.
Thank you for your support.
Some users of GHLauncher seem to have problem with the ".msi" installer, so I decided to create a new ".exe" installer. You can download the new installer here. I have also replaced the file in the main post.
Thank you for sharing Mahdiyar,
very helpful tool indeed.
I have one suggestion - it would be nice if the GHLauncher could open automatically your set .3dm template file in Rhino
Most excellent addition - many thanks. It worked perfectly the very first time on my Win10 system.
One question: on a system with 2 monitors (like mine) is there a way to make Grasshopper open on the monitor on which Rhino is NOT showing? In my case I run Rhino on my secondary monitor and Grasshopper on my primary, but Grasshopper always opens on the secondary monitor (on top of Rhino) and I then always have to drag it over to my primary monitor.
I guess what I'm looking for is a tweak that causes Grasshopper to open on the last monitor on which it was running, instead of always opening on the same monitor as Rhino.
A must have plugin. It is now in my treasury collection.
Runs fine, same system with your's (windows 10, Rhinoceros 5 SR12 64-bit, Grasshopper 0.9.0076).
Is it ok to post a wish here?
Like is it possible to add thumbnails as Rhino's active viewport to GH files? Would be nice to see a small preview of what it does in rhino before running it, especially nice if you have a huge collection of stuff XD.
Humongous Thanks.
Hi! Since i have installed Rhino 6 WIP. The GHLauncher opens all the .gh in Rhino 6 WIP.
Even uninstalling Rhino 6 WIP doesn't solve the problem. Something must have been left in the registry or standard programs as the GHlauncher doesn't work anymore even after Rhino 6 WIP is uninstalled..
Anybody ideas?
Edit: Solved - the program "FileTypesMan" helped me..
No actually unsolved.. So if anybody has a hint i would be happy!
I tried to search in the registry but as I don't have a clue what keys are written by the program the attempt remained also without success
Welcome to
Grasshopper
