Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey Grasshopper community!

Since last month I've started with these excellent tutorials on HoneyBee from Chris Mackey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8ncENwXpek) and I'm starting my first Energy simulation of a building.

I'm running an energy model for a building with an angled geometry on walls and 6 different zones. After creating the geometry, solving adjacencies and using the glazing creator for the 6 zones, one turned into an open Brep for which I had to add manually the glazing in order to keep closed zones.

After this, I try to run Energyplus and I'm finding a repeated error that says "adjacent surfaces are not found" even though I used the adjacencies component. After this, the simulation stops and I get 37 severe almost repeated errors. Could you help me fix my model and help me understand this error please? I attach my current model with the internalized data!

Thanks for help! and Amazing tutorials and tool! I'm still amazed by it!

For a followup to any good soul that can help me! :)

Regarding the open breps, I managed to simplify the geometry and create glazings without manually adding them by creating one whole mass that represents the top 3 floors and dividing it into floors. (I attach the updated model)

On the other hand regarding the adjacencies severe error during the nergy plus simulation, I've done several tests and found that Energy plus is not finding the adjacent surfaces created previously by the component (I attach an paste the image where you can see the error in a panel).

My theory is that probably this is happening because as you can see in the geometry (imaged pasted and attached) the ceiling of the ground floors does not cover the whole floor of floor 1.

I appreciate for any help anyone could give me! :)

Thanks!

Hi Juan,

Are you splitting the floor surface into two different surfaces to match the roof?

Hey Mostapha

Thanks for the help and quick reply! I did as you said amking making a difference fr those surfaces and the adjacencies error was fixed completely. Thanks for the help with it!

On the other hand, the new model I'm running with Energy plus appears to have a severe error when getting the geometry of the windows since most of the walls are angled surfaces as well as the windows. (I attach and paste the panels where this error is shown). I think this first error leads to the nex 17 errors when casting the shadows, and I only get this whenever I simulate angled walled zones.

17 next errors

Any recommendations you can give me with this?

Thanks for the help!
