Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Can't get to run grasshopper versions 0.7+ on either 4.0 or 5.0 (x86/x64)

Hello folks,
what am I missing here?

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64bit (all available updates installed)
.NET Frameworks installed: 1.0 - 1.1 - 2.0 SP2 - 3.0 SP2 - 3.5 SP1 - 4.0

I can only get to run pre-0.7 grasshopper versions.

When I try using anything newer than that I get different error messages. With Rhino 4.0 (4.0.50401 - evaluation version) I get these:
===
Rhino Plug-in Error:
Grasshopper.dll
Unable to load Grasshopper.dll plug-in: Rhino version not specified.
===

Turning on the verbose "TestDotNetMessages" I also get this:
===
Rhino.NET error: unable to locate a reference to Rhino_DotNET.DLL
===

In this case grasshopper will not start at all.

When trying to run it with Rhino 5.0 (5.0.17841.0 - evaluation version) I get this error message:
===
An error occured during Assembly Parsing.
Plugin may not function as expected.

mscorlib: Der Typ "Rhino.Geometry.Rectable3d" in der Assembly "RhinoCommon, Version=5.0.15004.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=552281e97c755530" konnte nicht geladen werden.
===

In this case grasshopper starts, but without all the functions to click on.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Antonio

PS: I have installed and uninstalled everything several times and after uninstalling I deleted files that were left - mostly because grasshopper's uninstaller doesn't really work.

Hi Antonio,

you will need at least Rhino4 SR8 to load Grasshopper 0.7.X and later.

Are you sure it says "Rhino.Geometry.Rectable3d" and not "Rhino.Geometry.Rectangle3d"?

Rectangle3d was added only recently to the SDK, so you will also need a fairly new wip release of Rhino5.

Yes, sorry. "Rectangle3d" not "Rectable3d".

I downloaded all latest versions:
Rhino 4.0 SR8 (rh40eval_en_20100401.exe)
Rhino 5.0 (rh50evaltimed_x86_20101014_0935.msi) (rh50evaltimed_x64_20101014_0935.msi)
Isn't there anything else I could troubleshoot? I'd really like to use the current GH version.
this RH50 is not the latest,..... rh50beta_x64_en_20101207_1811.msi is the latest
after install GH will work as expected
Oh, I see! Where can I download this version?
your rhino 5 version/help/check for updates
Drats. I get this: "Error computing update URL"
Maybe it doesn't work with eval versions.

I just sent an email to the rhino support asking whether they can up the real latest version as eval version.

Thanks for the help so far!
