Help please/  how to make a structure, where the lines diverge from a point or a curve

P.S.  Use the Expression "-x" on the 'M' input for 'ptPointAtts' for repulsion (as in your example) instead of attraction.

The results I got yesterday aren't as smooth as the image in the original post...  Not sure how to get there but was curious to see what happens if the effect of the point attractors is constrained to one direction.  So instead of allowing the grid points to move in both X and Y, they move only in X - instead of this:

Still doesn't match the goal though...?

This is a goofy piece of code but I'll post it anyway.  It uses the 'MoveAway (From)' component and makes more sense with only one point, but the edges of the grid are distorted by the point movement:

For more than one point, I used my 'PtCloudCntr' cluster to get the average but again, the grid shape is distorted - and the curve deflections don't align with the blue deflection points as the 'MoveAway D (Distance)' slider increases in value:
