Rhino Cutting Pattern

Does someone have an idea of how to get the cutting patters of a 3d Geometry of rhino. I generated this geometry with grasshopper, and now I would like to do something like this to my geometry in order to get the cutting patterns. I found an example, but I am not quite sure. any ideas someone? Or to avhieve this, should I subdivide my geometry, in order to get the flat xy surfaces which build up my geometry?

i don't actually understand what is all going about with this plugin ;] please tell me is it usable for making models out of paper (or smth similiar to paper) ? something like unfold ?
