algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
I am working on some experiments where I want to influence/deform a linear curve pattern by inserting diamond shapes. The idea is that the curves start shaping around the diamond shape and fade into the pattern (like a tween curve). (see attached picture)
It is similar to this example of grid spreading, but then with a diamond shape in the middle and angled lines rather than curved ones. (see attached picture)
I cannot seem to wrap my head around what would be the best solution especially when I want to add multiple diamond shapes, in different shapes and sizes, which all influence the line pattern as each others behavior.
If you have any thoughts, tips or advice, please let me know!
Thanks in advance,
Leonie

Hi Leonie,
I had a quick look at your problem and came up with this definition,
is not the same as the grid spreading but might give you different ideas on how to tackle this, what is your setup?
Hi David,
Thanks for your response. Your idea is quite alike of what I had in mind and a new perspective on my problem, great. Do you think this approach could also work with multiple points influencing each others line pattern?
I am starting from a vertical line pattern with some variations in length and density. I was looking into tweening multiple curves together, but that ended up not working.
Thanks for your help,
Leonie
Yes, I had another go (Diamonds2) with multiple points and tweening the lines, you could also add a graph mapper to influence the separation between the lines,
let me know how it develops
Best,
D
Thank you for the help, this really helps in the devlopment of the experiments. I will show some results next week, when the pattern is developed further and applied to some fabrics!
Best,
Leonie
This is a clever solution! Thanks David.
Cheers,
Erik
