Paneling Tools / Doubly Curved Surfaces and Repeating Patterns

I've set up a 3D morph definition, but am not sure how to proceed. Unless I use rectilinear pattern geometry, the pattern does not repeat cleanly within a grid of points extracted from a surface domain. Also, the geometry is warped such that it cannot be unrolled. Wondering what work-arounds there are if you aim to actually fabricate something with this plug-in.

Tools like paneling tools or also the box morph in gh have their limitations - you just mentioned some of them.

First you need a clear geometrical strategy of how things should come together, otherwise you will have to relay on general strategies that other people have come up with and design quad based patterns for all your life :)

I think this is pointing the direction you should go:

Thank you sincerely for the reference. I just revisited this problem and this Kangaroo definition is solving it.
