Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm getting back to GH and started with a very simple perforation pattern based on B&W transparent map,

1. I pannelize a surface with  Andrew Heumann definition

2. I use a jpg for B&W defining pattern aperture in the surface

3. I plug this aperture parameter into a simple hexagonal shape

My question is What takes so long to GH to solve every single change of parameter ?

Is it the way I build my definition ? How do I measure it ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

The profiler widget shows you the time each component took to calculate your definition:

In your case, the components that takes the most time is the SrfSplit at the end of the definition.

I believe the main reason is that you have overlapping hexagons and this seems to be giving GH a hard time. If you scale them down a bit so that they are not touching, the calculation time will go down.

(keep in mind though, that SrfSplit is generally a slow component)

Thanks Nikos,

Great tool !
