Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

I am currently working on my graduationproject of my Master architecture.

What i am trying to accomplish is a building (skyscraper) which consists of different units.

These units combined can be an appartment or an office for example, the modules.

I have a boundary, the form of the floorplan. Now i want to fill this with the different units. The place where the units are placed depends on different values such as:

- orientation

- Daylight

- Function

I attached sketches how I want it to work.

I hope it is clear and someone is able to help me to get started.

thanks in advance!

Maria

Hi Maria,

you'll have to share how these different values affect the placement. What's the algorithm you're looking to implement? Or if you don't have one yet, how do you want to be able to control the distribution later on.

Hi David,

Thanks for your quick reply!

What I am trying to accomplish is that the user defines the infill of the building with the units and modules. The user set values to different aspects for the units like the orientation, the view, daylight etc.. What is the level of importance (scale 1-10 for example) of the values by the user.

To give an example, unit A is a unit with a bathroom, daylight is not that important so it does not have to be on the outside of the building, the value that can be given is a 2 for example. For a livingroom unit B, the view is important and gets a 8 on the scale of 1-10. The unit has to be placed at the outerside of the building where the view is good. This valuation can be done i think by numbersliders.

I do not know how to do this, i think maybe by zoning the floorplan where the view is good for example.

I do not know where to start with the GH-script.

Maybe you can help me with that, the principle.

Thanks in advance!

Maria

Maybe to declare myself a little bit more, here is a youtube video with the principle of what i want to do:
