algorithmic modeling for Rhino

i made a part of a staircase balustrade in rhino, and im foreseeing fabrication issues in it(but in the distant future) so i am trying to remodel the entire thing in a more systematic way, such that its a little more geometric (and tweakable) im sharing the base model and the script that im trying to make it work with. if you turn on the rest of the layers you will see what im on about.

i was able to identify a sequence of points that when interpolated will form my balustrade connecting the railing(top sweep) and stringer(bottom sweep)

it looks quite messy and im sure there is a better way to do it (i just dont know how)

for this reason i get stuck at how to proliferarate this further over the length of the helix.

can anyone help me figure this out?

This will be useful.

thank you daniel! that does look interesting. can you explain to me what you have done with the remapping? also im getting crazy results with the graph mapper: it lends itself to a lot of exploration.  also if you noticed the points that i had selected manually (with the path construction) is there a more elegant way of doing that? i felt the curves i acheived there was better suited. im trying to get it as tangential as possible to the top and bottom rails but the graph mapper seems to flip out there.

thanks for your help :D

Try projecting curves back to the surface. (pull curves component.)

i did try that but it isnt really that useful. the endpoints need to match up to make the sweeps work. thanks though. i understood to some extent what the graph is doing. im now going to try and apply a culling mask onto it and see if it works (once it starts responding again)

this culling business seems harder than i thought. i tried to take some pointers from this particular thread. http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/shift-data-points-with-br... but seems like im way off the mark. am i making things harder for myself?
