It's a QuadTree division. There's a component called QuadTree in Grasshopper that does this, you'll just have to supply the point cloud which causes the right cells to subdivide.

I've already tried QuadTree but it creates squares within rectangulars and not subdivisions of the initial rectangular grid. Any ideas?

how can I put the quad tree in ''L'' shape and keep the division in squares, because i try but the squares change to rectangles. i need the quadtree in all ''L'' shape.
