algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
I am very new to grasshopper and rhino. Just started working with these yesterday. I know it is a bit too early to ask the questions. Well i am attaching an image of the material effect that i am looking forward to create through rhino and grasshopper. But if only i know how to.
I was thinking to create a module first and then aggregate it somehow in grasshopper over a surface to achieve that. Thats how i envisioned it. I have been going through a lot of tutorials and videos but no luck so far.
I was hoping if anyone can help me out with the step by step execution of such effect, or guide me in the right direction for a better tutorial, it would be a huge favor.
Looking forward to hear from you guys.
Thanx,

Hi Zaid
one possible way to approach this would be to first define the volume that you want to fill, using a brep or a mesh. Later, you would need to fill it. There is one plug-in by Jon Mirchkin, that does that. Or you could model the basic form and move it to some location with Grasshopper.
Then, only keep items inside the polysurface. An example of how to do this is here...
Weaire–Phelan
In this example, I use a module of the Weaire–Phelan structure and repeat it inside the polysurface.
The copying (populating) is rather heavy, so I first replace the needed vector with Null, and then only move with valid vectors.

Thanx Giulio,
It is quite helpful, and probabally the same thing that i have been looking for. Let me try it first and i will ask you a few more questions about it.
In the meanwhile, i was working on the same project and i generated a few things out of grasshopper, But unfortunately when i was done with the final product, my computer crashed and i was unable to save my grasshopper definition. I have uploaded the file of Rhino here. Can you help me out retrieving the definition. I did it through the tutorial and now i have no clue how to do it again.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanx
Zaid
