Fit a curve around a group of points

Hi all, 

I would like to draw a curve around a series of points that encapsulates all the points. It would make sense if the curve adjusted for the "weight" of each point, but even just straight lines between each "exterior" point would be useful. here are few images of what I mean:

Id love to hear your thoughts!
