algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
I want to relax a mesh using kangaroo and then use the curvature for remeshing. As the mesh is build out of either planar elements (or quad elements which curvature I assume do not necessarily represent the curvature of the corresponding surface).
My first idea was to look at a vertex and the (for quad elements) four lines going out from this point and find the angles between these, but this won't give me the gauss curvature.
Any ideas?

What if you triangulated the mesh first, then measured the Gaussian curvature (using the angle defect) per vertex?
If there are non-planar quads then it is true that which of the 2 possible triangulations is used will slightly affect the value, but I imagine this would average out over the surrounding vertices.
Thanks for the reply Daniel.
I will try it out
I'm asking *how* to obtain this curvature value via Python, preferably without any triangulation of quads, here:
