Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I manage a school lab where we have 30 machines and hundreds of different users.

Is there a straight forward way to install Grasshopper add-ons so that they are available to ALL users on that machine?  So far, the documentation has indicated that add-ons are per-user which means that users would have to install their grasshopper add-ons each time they log onto a machine.

Rhino plugins can be per-machine which are a lot easier to manage.

Thanks,

Allan.

Which GH plugins are we talking about?

The particular examples at this point would be ones like LunchBox and Kangaroo.

I expect that it should work similarly for most well-written plugins.

Doesn't Grasshopper now (for some time) load any .gha files located in the same folder as a loaded Rhino plugin?

You could set it up like this (instead of the grasshopper components folder) so that it loaded per machine (and not per user).

This is how it works for my plugins (which I put in a specific folder of my own).  It's also one of the reasons that I don't use .rhi (rhino installer).
