since when does a post on that site needs an approval? a question of a friend is not posted yet...how long can that take?

I have seen a few occurrences of this. Something Ning has implemented to stop some types of spammers or Malware. Just recently there was a long list of code with Chinese characters in that was flagged for approval.

Unfortunately I don't seem to see anything in the Manage section related to quarantined posts so It will have to be done by David or Scott and David is absent at the moment.

I just approved them. However if you have questions you should ask them on the forum, where posts don't need approval. Only blog posts needs this, but people tend not to read blog posts unless they're subscribed to you or if they happen to view the home page at the right time.
