Issues with the Boundary Surfaces component

I've tried using the Boundary Surfaces tool quite a few times and noticed that it works sometimes, but the rest of the times it just doesn't return any value

Even under similar conditions, U can never be sure with the results..

These are two files that i"m uploading. One in which the component returns a value and another in which it doesn't. If someone can figure out what the problem is, that would be great.

Also, I'd like to further understand how exactly this component works, since I'm probably not using it right
