algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello,
It has been asked from me to create a form (box) which will be generating an space (the big scale) and from this generated space I will have to go back to the detail (the box) to see if it is form is the best to use.
I do not have any idea how can I do this.
Anyone can insight me and if there is some discussions similar to this.
Thank you
Much appreciated

I'm sorry but this is outside my area of expertise.
I do have a few questions though: What is best? i.e. what criteria will you be judging it on?
Also how will you define your city layout? by roads, zones etc.
Is this "Module" the same size and shape for every building?
Galapagos needs a single value to optimize. That means, you somehow need to combine all those distances A simple sum might work here.
Not sure what you mean. If each part of the sum trends to a minimum, that sum also trends to the minimum.
Of course, there might be a situation, where making three distances shorter, one will get longer. Its a matter of interpretation. You need to narrow down your goal.
You can use a squared sum so larger distances will trend the sum stronger away from the minimum than the shorter distances. That would be interesting for truss structures, where too large members cause problems.
You can also minimize the average. That will generally make distances short but there will be solutions with generally shorter distances. This will equalize your distances.
