Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can 'Incremental Save' (myfile001, myfile002) in Grasshopper  similar to Rhino?

Also, is there a way to auto-save a definition at a certain interval e.g. every 15 minutes?

Ideally I would like to automatically incremental save my definition every 15 minutes i.e. after 1 hour I will have 001.ghx, 002, ghx, 003.ghx and 004.ghx.

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

not quite in the way described. You can Save Copy to create duplicates without changing the active file name. You can Save As to save incrementally (though it's not automatic) and auto saving happens based on modification events, not based on time intervals. Also autosaved files are overwritten and not easy to reach.

Adding the functionality as you described is possible, but I'd like to understand exactly what problem you're trying to solve in this way.

Hi David,

Thanks for replying. Ahh ok the Save duplicate/copy function does exactly what I need.

The problem I am trying to solve is a little specific. I am tracking how students change their definitions every 15-30 mins. Currently I tell them to save it manually, but some of them forget to do so occasionally. I was wondering if there was a simple way to automate this - maybe with a timer and a recommended component that I am unfamiliar with. Alternatively, is the saving function accessible through scripting?
